The Chicago Tribune is reporting that Eric Gordon has decided to sign with Indiana instead of Illinois, the school he originally gave a verbal commitment to.
Tribune reporter Brian Hamilton quotes Eric Gordon Sr. saying his son will attend Midnight Madness in Bloomington and sign a letter of intent with Indiana on Nov. 8, the first day of the early signing period.
Gordon Jr., often called E.J., originally told Illinois coach Bruce Weber he would play for the Illini next season.
He began reconsidering his decision when Indiana hired Kelvin Sampson.
“Late last night E.J. did get a chance to talk to both coaches, and he did talk to coach Weber,” the Eric Gordon Sr. told the Tribune on Friday morning. “Coach Weber called him back and (Eric) did tell him he was not going to be going to University of Illinois.
“It was really like splitting hairs, ultimately. This just happened to be the best thing for EJ.”
Gordon is the No. 2 2007 recruit in the nation, according to Scout.com.
