Ratliff: “I was a no-show, no-call”

Junior guard A.J. Ratliff said Thursday that the rumors about him leaving Indiana’s team got started because he missed a practice without calling to say he’d miss it.

But Ratliff said there’s nothing to the rumors. He said coach Kelvin Sampson is dealing with Ratliff missing practice without notifying the team in advance, but otherwise “everything is fine.”

Friends and relatives called Ratliff because they’d heard about the rumors on Internet message boards Tuesday and Wednesday saying Ratliff had skipped practice. Even Ratliff’s mother, who lives in Louisiana, called her son to say she was worried that he was leaving the team and school. Ratliff said his mother asked if he needed counseling and said she was praying for him.

“I just missed practice. It was a big misunderstanding,” Ratliff said. “I was a no-show, no-call.”
