After the scrimmage, the players split up to shoot free throws and Sampson took the microphone and spoke to the fans in attendance. A rough synopsis of what he said:
“We really appreciate you all coming out here today. We’ve got a long way to go, but we’ll get there. We’re really trying to work on bringing up our energy level and our enthusiam level. We’ve been doing this since Oct. 13 and still have a long way to go.”
After that, Sampson offered the fans the chance to come down on the court and take pictures and get autographs. Didn’t take long for the remaining fans to do just that.
Needless to say, Eric Gordon and D.J. White are the players most swarmed by the fans. Sampson’s also got a line about 15 people deep. Also, Adam Ahfeld has had to fend off a group of about 30 people seeking pictures and autographs. No, not really. But it’s a funny thought.
