Hasheem Thabeet is tall (and other thoughts)

Indiana prepares for Connecticut.

You can read it on a roster, but to see 7-3 is completely different. Hasheem Thabeet is really an incredible sight. Just looking at him makes me think Indiana will shoot a lot of 3s. The Hoosiers shot 18 in their win last season.

Of course, Eric Gordon’s path to the lane is much easier now that Jerome Dyson won’t be in his way. I’m not sure who they’ll try to put on Gordon, but I’m not sure that there’s anybody physical enough to handle the rowdy freshman. Gordon’s an interesting kid in that he’d never ever say he was extremely pumped for this game, but you’ll be able to tell immediately that he is. I look for him to go hard at the rim early.

For Indiana to win, I think D.J. White needs to get back into double digit rebounds. The last two games he’s had different assignments and hasn’t been stationed near the basket. That won’t be the case today. He’ll be battling for every bit he can get down there.

What are your thoughts on this game as we approach tip?

How tall was Oden last year? I forget.

I think Oden is a flat 7 foot. Maybe 7-1.
