Source: Sampson out

We don’t have any details at this point on whether it will be a resignation or a suspension leading to a firing, but we’ve heard tonight from a source close to this situation that Kelvin Sampson’s fate at IU has been decided.

We’ll provide more details as they become available.

Doug, who is your source? Thanks!

    Jeff, seriously?

Rick Greenspan needs to go along with Sampson. As with any good boss, you reap what you sow…..

Yes, I am serious. Everyone is saying they have these “sources” with information. Well I’m sick of it. They could just be making it all up, and guessing that Sampson is gone since that is the most logical option. I saw dozens of these same posts on Peegs today.

Jeff, it’s a confidential source that we can’t reveal, but I can tell you it’s someone with direct knowledge of the situation. We don’t have more details only because our source was brief in talking to us.

That is pretty laughable Jeff. The Herald-Times carries a little bit more weight than the message boards.

Plus, it’s only a “source” if the informant remains anonymous. It kind of defeats the whole purpose for Doug if he were to respond to you and tell you the person’s identity.

I think you’re just frustrated with the situation at hand in the basketball program, not the reporting media outlets have done today.

Greenspan needs to stay and I am sick of all the IU BB/Noter Dame FB Fans that want to get rid of the best AD we have had in a long time. New facilities in Football, Baseball and Basketball. He has made good hires in Football and Sampson was not his choice….though the guy can coach. All you ND Football/IU BBall fans go worship at Touchdown Jesus and let the IU people take care of our University…..

What? They’re replacing Greenspan with Touchdown Jesus?

If G-span is so great, why did he take so long to hire Lynch for the football team? Clean house and move on!

Thanks Doug, at least that’s a little more info for us. But if the source is wrong (which I doubt he/she is), can we get an apology tomorrow? Or a clarification?

And AJ, I’m very happy with the program right now. We’ve won 4 of our last 5 games and are tied in the loss column for the Big Ten lead. If Kelvin is coaching the team next game, great. If he’s not, then I hope whoever is can get the boys to keep playing good basketball. So I guess what I’m trying to say is that you are wrong in your assumptions about me. I am far more frustrated with the media outlets right now.
