And the winners are . . .

As expected, Indiana’s D.J. White is the Player of the Year and Eric Gordon is the Freshman of the Year.

Here’s a link to the entire list of awards.

If I am reading it correctly — and I’ve been up since 4 a.m. so I might not be — it appears as though D.J. White was NOT a unanimous first-team selection. Only Eric Gordon and Robbie Hummel, both freshmen, were unanimous picks, in fact.

Chris, unless it has changed since you saw it, the asterisk means that player was unanimous. On the media team DJ was the only one. The coaches team DJ and Eric were the only two unanimous. DJ was NOT unanimous POY by the media(i wonder who that idiot was) but was by the coaches.

That’s how I read it anyway. And I havent been up since 4am. :)

Ryan,

It has changed and is now correct and actually makes sense. I think they just got their denotation methods mixed up there for a minute.

do you know if the voting is public? in other words, i’d love to know who in the media doesnt think DJ was the best player this year.

Ryan,

The voting is not public. It definitely would be interesting to know how coaches and reporters voted.

Two names come to mind about the POY voting: one is Dave Revsine of the Big Ten Network who said Hummel would have his vote for POY, and the other is Musburger (who is a pathetic excuse for a sportscaster) who also said Hummel should be named POY. By the way, Tim Doyle was cohosting the postgame show on the BTN when Revsine made that comment and asked him what he had been smoking and that DJ was maybe the best big man in the USA!
