IU running back Marcus Thigpen is off to a good outdoor track season, as evidenced by the Big Ten Conference this afternoon naming him its male Track C0-Athlete of the Week, along with Purdue hurdler Josh Hembrough.

Here’s the Big Ten’s release about Thigpen:

Marcus Thigpen, Indiana, Sr., Detroit, Mich. / Mumford

At the Alabama Relays, Thigpen claimed gold in the 100-meter dash breaking the tape in 10.47, improving upon his previous personal-best of 10.65. The Detroit, Mich., native also qualified for the NCAA Regional meet with this race. Thigpen would later team up with fellow Hoosiers and win the 800-meter relay in a time of 1:24.86. In the same meet, the senior also posted a career-best in the 200 meters crossing the line at 21.77.  Thigpen garners his first career weekly honor.

Sorry to bother you Mr. Editor but I belieeeeeeeeve you posted this incorrectly on the Indiana website. No, no offense taken.

Actually its football and if I remember correctly, one of my greatest moments as an IU fan in general was just over 4 months ago in Memorial Stadium as we rushed the football field. So although the Kellen Lewis situation feels bad….its only because it was added on while we were still reeling in basketball situations. I can honestly say that this is the first time in my life that I am happier for our football program over our basketball program. Good job Marcus. You have been a great student, hard working athlete and have represented IU incredibly well. Congrats, keep it up and see ya in the fall!
