Maurice Sutton talks about Indiana

Here’s a video by H-T photographer Jeremy Hogan showing Maurice Sutton Friday night at the May Classic in Bloomington.

The skinny 6-10 center from Maryland (in the Washington D.C. metro area) played well in a guest appearance for Indiana Elite. He didn’t play the first quarter while someone located jersey for him.

After Indiana Elite fell behind 19-2 with Sutton on the bench, he helped his team come back for a win with 15 points, five rebounds and three blocks in less than three quarters. He demonstrated athleticism and good passing skills for a big man.

Seems like a good kid. I was surprised to hear him talk about a degree before becoming a pro player.

Impressive. Just listening to him speak about IU, the history, the fans and coach Crean provides a noticable contrast to those that are no longer here. I was concerned about his weight when I first heard about him but I’d take him on this team just for his attitude.

    Doug or Chris,

I see this morning that Rivers has committed to IU. Can you guys figure out if he is paying his own way? I can’t believe we took him instead of another big guy like Van Treese. We may be out of 2009 scholly’s now if Sutton commits because of the possible APR implications or further NCAA sanctions. While we will be a competitive team with this group of guys on the floor, I am not so sure we will be a championship team even in the Big 10.

Very impressive speaker. Smart and articulate. I really like the kind of players TC is recruiting. I hope Maurice signs.

Sounds like an echo but Maurice Sutton sounds like an articulate, smart and good young man. Just the kind of player that IU needs and the IU fans appreciate.
