If you wear Stripes, they will sign

Nice pants.Surely you’ve seen Indiana assistant Bennie Seltzer stylin’ the candy-striped pants while recruiting in Las Vegas. I heard today he may wear the stilts while playing the fight song on a tuba and hoisting a cheerleader with a free hand.

Anyway, if you want coverage of the largest recruiting event of the year — it’s actually two major events and a minor one concurrently running at gyms throughout the desert — I’d recommend the usual spots Peegs.com and HoosierNation.com — if you’ve got subscriptions. Also head over to Jody Demling’s blog with the Louisville Courier-Journal. Always good stuff there. In fact, that’s where I stole the Seltzer pic from. (Thanks, Jody!)

You’ve gotta love his passion! He’s working so hard to sell this program that I’ve heard he’s been spotted around Vegas with the very woman seen in the attached clip!

Anybody know who Seltzer’s main targets are at this Vegas soiree??

    Eric,

Likely the same names we’ve been discussing all month. He, Tom Crean and Tim Buckley will be watching Stephan Van Treese, Christian Watford, Roger Franklin, Josh Smith, Harrison Barnes, Spencer Turner and a host of others.
Just about every AAU team in the country worth their salt is out there, in addition to a host of high school teams (Turner and Jordan Hulls are playing for South this week, not their Indiana Elite AAU teams).

Thanks, Hugh. You’re okay for an NC guy!! Just kidding, NC is a beautiful state.

Hmm, Josh Smith, didn’t IU sign him a few years ago …..

Are all of these guys ’09 prospects? That is, we’ll only have 1 or maybe 2 scholarships to offer to players in this group?

I would almost take the chance that at least 1 player leaves at the end of the year. If we have the chance to get Watford and Franklin, why not sign both of them??? They are elite guys in the class of 09′.

Great shot Jody. I think we need to get who we can get now and let the pieces fall as they may. I think Crean has been thinking it over about this last scholarship and it’s gonna be for Watford or Franklin. SVT’s stock has dropped considerably over the last few years. Maybe he’s not putting the work in the gym, weight room or whatever it is I think that he’s too soft. That we don’t need. I can’t help but think playing against Oden as a Soph in HS everyday was an ego blow.

I have been watching some of the higher profile games online. http://www.wazoosports.com/

One thing is for certain so far: Creek is going to be a star in the Big Ten. He went toe to toe with the #1 player in the country last night in John Wall and barely lost it in OT. He is averaging around 27 points and 80% from the stripe in his 3 games out there.

Also keep an eye on Braswell who now apparently has an 09 offer from IU. Good post player who likes to bang and has some skills. He plays on Creeks team.

Can the Hoosiers make a bowl game without Nate Sudfeld?
