Checking in from State College

Caught a bit of Penn State’s 65-51 win against William & Mary to open the basketball season tonight. Talor Battle, who was pretty stellar as a freshman last year, has really become a very dynamic guard at the Big Ten level. Of course I watched this game thinking about how Indiana would match up, and I’m anxious to see how Verdell Jones and Daniel Moore handle Battle at the point of attack. He’s awfully quick.

Anyway, the Hoosiers’ football team has arrived here and is back relaxing at the hotel. They were unable to go through a walk-through because the field at Beaver Stadium was covered. There’s been a ton of rain here, and last I checked there’s a 70 percent chance of more showers tomorrow. Not sure what that might mean as far as having an impact on the game. Probably means the Nittany Lions will rely more on the run; could see a lot of that “Wildcat” formation with Derrick Williams running around.

Anyway, this hasn’t been posted here yet and it should be: Here’s Jared Poertner’s free preview of the game. The Poert Report, if you will.
