My bad

During the chat (below) I was asked how badly IU had been out-scored in the second half this year. The number I provided was wrong because I forgot to include two games in my calculation.

After today’s loss, the Hoosiers have lost the second half of games back to and including the one against Ball State on Sept. 20 by a combined score of 170-33.

I apologize for the error.

Poor conditioning, poor coaching, poor playing…poor everything!

I let out a longing and melancholy “sigh” as I look at the UNC-Maryland score (15-14 UNC in the 3rd): two *basketball* powerhouses, playing exciting football down the stretch…two schools who were never stupid enough to give in to the “basketball only” label that so many silly Hoosiers happily accepted… and now, the same silly little Hoosiers don’t even have a basketball team worth a hoot! Life is cruel when you put all your (rotten) eggs in one basket (ball) !!!

After today’s game, IU has been outscored by a total of 190-68 in the 2nd half on the season.

In Big Ten play, that number is now 147-20. Of the 7 Big Ten games played to this point, IU has now been shutout during the 2nd half of play in 4 of them.

If you compare that to the 1st half, those numbers have IU being outscored 122-86.

The 2nd half performance has been horrible.

Conditioning? Mental focus? Failure to adjust? Locker room gnomes stealing our mojo? I’d say you could reasonably pin it on at least 3 of the above. How about 27% on 3rd down conversions? Does Bill still think we’re doing the right thing? On the bright side, next week’s game against Purdue will be just as exciting and consequential as last year’s game. With the slight difference of not vying for bowl position but battling for the bottom of the Big 10. High stakes bucket game indeed!

its simple. our coaches suck. end of story. We bring 1 game plan to the first half, do ok, then the other team with REAL coaches adjust, and we then we get blown out in the 2nd half. I guess Lynch is happy we didnt lose by 60.
