Indiana football is up to four commitments today after receiving verbals from Warren Central linebacker Jordan Wallace and wide receiver Kevin Davis.
Dustin is trying to get more on all these commits, but a bit of analysis: Indiana getting two guys from Warren Central is a big deal. The program seems to develop the most (and often the best) prospects year-in, year-out in the state of Indiana. The Hoosiers haven’t had a whole lot of success recently there (Chris Adkins and Andrew McDonald are the only two current Hoosiers from the school).
UPDATE, 6:18 p.m.: Dustin Dopirak here. Some info on Wallace and Davis.
The two Warren Central stars are actually stepbrothers, and they’ve been hoping to play college ball together since they were in fifth grade. Both said Indiana gave them everything they could ask for.
“ It’s a dream come true,” Wallace said. “We’ve always wanted to play with each other since little league. Even academically it fits for both of us. We won’t find it anywhere else. We can both do what we want to do.”
Wallace, a 6-foot-1, 218-pounder, could play either middle or inside linebacker depending on the weight he puts on. Warren Central coach John Hart said he can be strong in the run game, and can also be strong in pass coverage.
“He’s really a student of the game,” Hart said. “And he flips his hips as well as any linebacker I’ve ever coached. That’s the one thing that every coach I’ve heard from loved about him.”
Hart said Davis will give the Hoosiers an instant impact playmaker. He hasn’t put up big numbers at Warren Central because the squad has struggled to find a quarterback, but they will make more of an effort to get him the ball this year.
“He’s an impact playmaker,” Hart said. “He went to a 7-on-7 camp in South Carolina where there 110 Division I athletes and he outran all of them. He doesn’t have an eye-popping 40 time, but he outran all of them on the football field.”
