Ferrell, Hollowell, Patterson, Lyles make All-State teams

This has assuredly made its rounds, but four Indiana commitments were named to one of the Associated Press’s All-State teams on Thursday. Park Tudor point guard Yogi Ferrell and Lawrence Central swingman Jeremy Hollowell were named to the first team. Tech forward Trey Lyles and Broad Ripple guard Ron Patterson were named to the second team.

Anyone watch the HS all-star games last night?

Got my first extended look at Hollowell and second look at Perea… Jeremy seemed very comfortable on the floor. Didn’t try to do too much, which is nice for wing scorer in that atmosphere, and made some really nice passes – nothing super-flashy, just the right pass at the right time. His 3-pt stroke was very smooth. Hollowell, just looked like he belonged out there on the court and would make the transition to the next level very easily.

Perea was a little more spastic. He seemed like he just wanted to go out there and get dunks and shoot 3′s. He literally fouled out twice so the coach finally had to take him out for good. Not that he’ll ever have the green light, but his perimeter shot looked decent – he had 3 in-and-outs from distance. His highlight came on a transition alley-oop where he ran the right lane and had a defender with him stride for stride, the guard threw the ball to the rim and Hanner caught it and reverse 2-hand dunked it going at full speed with the defender jumping with him about 1 foot behind the play. There was certainly no one on IU that could make that play last year. Well, maybe Dipo, but I think he would have had a hard time adjusting to the ball in the air at his size and the speed that the play was made at.

Overall thoughts are I’m certainly not disappointed with the size and level of athletes we have coming in next year. My intuition that Hollowell will be a total stud by the time his IU career is over was only reconfirmed last night.

Didn’t see the game but I do remember quite a few comments on Scoop over the past year that talked of Hollowell’s huge potential. I think your intuition is shared by many, wise learned son of wise learned parental units.

At least Hamas Hillbilly isn’t hiding behind sock puppets anymore.

Thanks once again for proving me right when I said your cryfest about leaving this place was nonsense and you just being an attention-wh0re.
