IUPUI at IU women’s basketball

Final: Some selfish play at the end, and IUPUI hits three 3s in final moments, but Hoosiers hang on easily, 60-49. IU 23 of 53 shooting, 15 assists. Sinclair 20 points.
5:17 2nd: IU holding on to big lead as Jags continue to miss far more than they make. Rubene 6 of IU’s seaosn high 15 assists. IU up 60-37
Halfime: IU comes up with another offensive spurt to end the half up 38-21. Jags have played 11 players to IU’s 8 basically and its press is often leaving IU with 18 seconds or so to find a good shot. Poor shooting, however, has limited how often Jags can press and it’s caused some turnovers. But IU has also done a good job passing and finding the open player. Linda Rubene and Aulani Sinclair each have 10 points and Milika Taufa 8 for IU. Rubene has four assists, IU 11 total on 16 buckets. Hoosier are shooting 61.5 percent (16-of-26) and 4-of-6 on 3s. IUPUI struggling at 25 percent (8-of-32), 2-of-12 in teh last 6 minutes.
7:38, 1st IU having difficulty the last couple of minutes. Jags are full-court pressing and seems to be wearing. BUt IU leads, 24-12.
14:28, 1st: IU off to great start on both ends, leading 13-4. Jags getting ball in paint but not finishing. They are trying their best to speed the game up.

PREGAME: Hi, Jim Gordillo at Assembly Hall tonight as the Hoosier women try for a fourth straight win. It’s the first of five straight home games for IU. Hoosiers are 2-0 all-time vs. IUPUI, which features six Indianapolis area players and four other in-state recruits.
The 3-1 Jags, it should be noted, beat the same Valparaiso team (75-69 at home) that knocked off the Hoosiers in the season opener. They come in off a 71-67 win over Indiana State. IUPUI shooting 46.3 percent this year while IU foes shooting just 34.9.
