1. HOOSIERS HQ
Hanner Mosquera-Perea provided a glimpse of his potential against Florida Atlantic, Dustin wrote.

IU athletics is the gift that keeps on giving to Hoosier fans, I wrote.

2. IT’S INDIANA
The Hoosiers’ Remy Abell took time for a Q&A with Matt Denison of the Louisville Courier-Journal.

Indiana comes in fifth in the latest top 25 and one from CBSsports.com’s Jeff Goodman and Gary Parrish.

With IU and Michigan national title contenders, the Big Ten is the best conference in the nation, Mike DeCourcy of the Sporting News writes.

If the NCAA Tournament started today, Indiana would be a No. 2 seed, Rick Bozich of WDRB.com writes.

3. NCAA AGAIN
Initially ruled ineligible for the season, Texas’ Myck Kabongo had his suspension reduced to 23 games and must pay back $475, Yahoo! Sports reported.

4. ONE FOR CHRISTMAS EVE
Bing Crosby and David Bowie with “Little Drummer Boy/Peace on Earth.”

The Bing and Bowie duet remains inscrutable to this day. That said, it’s a guilty pleasure

Merry early Xmas to everyone, and especially Colts fans, who are witnessing a pretty miraculous year (although if the Indy Star comment section is any indicator, there really aren’t many Colts fans, or if there are, they don’t use computers that much).

Or they don’t use computers to write in that comment section using many fake names like you do. Is that what you meant? Dingbat.

‘Christmas Long Agos’

To run through the powder of new fallen snows,
To sip hot cocoa with melted marshmallows,
To put on three layers of socks and still have cold toes,
To clutch my speeding sled with fingers froze,
And brave the steepest hill to see how fast it goes,
Bring me back Christmas, Christmas long agos.

To look into my yard and dream through an icy window,
To build my first play fortress in natures white pillow,
To welcome the wind’s howl when against our house it blows,
To know drifts piled high force school’s doors to close,
To never worry of today and have so many tomorrows,
Bring me back Christmas, Christmas long agos.

To watch mom and dad sneak kisses under mistletoea,
To peek at my presents without tearing the bows,
To share a cookie with my dog, my protector from foes,
To feel again his playful nudge and his tongue lick my nose,
To be young and so lucky, like no lucky child knows,
Bring me back Christmas, Christmas long agos.

To see my sisters faces while festive candle glows,
To each a beautiful bloom, a pedal of mother’s rose,
To hold forever laughter in a family picture pose,
To watch dad snap a photo when only his sweet grin shows,
To never think such moments together time so soon outgrows,
Bring me back Christmas, Christmas long agos.

Now, how I wish for the first fallen snows,
And the winter’s winds of past, through this door to blow,
At the base of the hill grips a tired lonely soul,
Talks to a flickering candle for a change of heart its old glow,
To revisit the sled and the warmth of shivering toes,

To bring me back to Christmas, Christmas long agos.

The really unusual thing about this pairing is that it was filmed prior to October 1977 and Bing died in October of 1977. It was shown about a month or so after his death. Thus his last Christmas special was shown when he had passed away already.

Still a classic though and one I have on one of my many Christmas cd’s.
