Not sure what Parade’s criteria is, but I find it interesting that Fischer is the only IU recruit included on this list. Otherwise, it’s great honor for the young man and his family and gives even more credibility to Crean’s ability to identify and recruit talent. I think Fischer, while maybe not having the impact that Zeller had as a freshman, is going to surprise a lot of people.

Can’t find the criteria anywhere… Good for Fischer, good for Mr. Beal up here in Maine… Nice for the mantle, but pretty unrepresentative of the actual top talent.

I don’t know the specific criteria, but it seems to me it has a lot to do with actual high school career and doesn’t so much account for quality of competition. If you were Mr. Basketball matters. Whether your team won and you scored a lot of points matters. It doesn’t so much matter whether your game projects to college. It doesn’t matter whether you played anybody that was really good. Which at least makes it unique, anyway.

Well…if Fischer can come in his Freshman year and play half as well as Zeller did, then I’m a big fan!
