If Yogi could mimic those numbers for this upcoming season that would be great. Hopefully Will scores a bit more than that though.

I agree Big E. I know the vocal leadership will be on display from both these guys this fall. I hope they return with more confidence offensively and increase their point production. Both are capable of replicating/exceeding these numbers during the season with starter’s minutes.

Those who ask for news could easily do their part by collecting them from other sites and sharing them here with us. Team USA lost to Canada and Australia. Canada’s 12-player roster included guards Mangisto Arop (Indiana State), Melvin Ejim (Iowa State), Heslip (Baylor), Kevin Pangos (Gonzaga) and Philip Scrubb (Carleton), forwards Murphy Burnatowski (Colgate), Owen Klassen (Acadia), Daniel Mullings (New Mexico State), Dwight Powell (Stanford), Thomas Scrubb (Carleton) and Kyle Wiltjer (Kentucky) and center Jordan Bachynski (Arizona State). Meanwhile Australia was led by Steve Alford’s player from New Mexico, Cameron Bairstow. Hope this puts the tournament in perspective.

It does, and I appreciate it. Yours is a good suggestion, especially during these dead periods when we work hard at getting on each other’s nerves. Blogs are interactive, and individuals could use this one to pass on materials regarding IU sports from other sources (unless the management objects, of course. It could even include other sports that rarely get mention but are just as representative of the Hoosiers.

Some pressure may then be taken off DD, Jeremy and Andy. Of course, they’d still have to edit content and accuracy but they would not be expected to write (or rewrite) entire pieces for the blog. Someone could follow Drouin, someone Sheehey and Ferrell, someone the soccer world (lots of big changes), Hoosier players in the ‘Bigs’ (and even minors.

The format to the one that used to follow state newspapers (Morning’ Line or whatever- I really do not recall the name of the feature). Sometimes, even links would be a good contribution. And column inches is not an issue in Scoop.

I appreciate your response too. Here’s more info on Team USA:

The players were selected by the 2013-16 USA Basketball Men’s Junior National Team Committee. Chaired by Jim Boeheim (Syracuse University), the committee includes NCAA appointees McKillop, Matt Painter (Purdue University) and Lorenzo Romar (University of Washington), as well as athlete representative Curtis Sumpter, a member of the 2011 USA Pan American Games Team and the 2004 USA U20 National Team.

Sheehey is such a weapon when he is “on” he can fill up the basket. He had 20 points in 21 minutes plus rebounds and assists. He could easily have many 20+ games and maybe some 30+ and it was great to see Yogi get the ball to players who can score down low I can see yogi having some big leadership games . What big man would not love a guard who can get u the ball in a position to score. Our big guys will love Yogi so they better be ready to catch and shoot. This year’s team is going to be fun to watch and if the Coaches
can get the team to play defense it will be off to the races!! I can not remember IU having a team this athletic ever so run young men run!

I predict that Will will average 30 min/game, 15 pts, 7 reb, and guard the opponents best player; Yogi will average 30 min/game, 15 pts, 7 assists and “quarterback” the team on offense. The big question is which of the other 11 players can emerge as “big-time” scorers (we need two more), “big-time” rebounders (we need two more), and “big-time” defenders (we need two more). I think that a 10 man rotation is likely. I hope that by March we get to see a healthy Peter Jurkin really add to this team. I think that his potential when healthy could be startling.

^ Straight from the port-a-potty of Mariner Tom. Predictions are a troll’s main form of expression especially those void of content. Better tell us BeatPurdue when and how did IU last beat Purdue in football? And what was the reward for the IU coach after that win?

Team USA – Was noted that pro’s could also be on any of the teams if they are signed up to take at least one higher education course. Liked the international rules they used. Watched the first two USA games. Camera man seemed more interested in highlighting the lovelies in attendance.

    Will also plays football?

BP – Fischer and Noah may be the key for this year.

Looking ahead, if I’m reading the numbers right, IU has one scholarship open. Dante Exum? Goodluck? Blackmon, Jr?
    Or a number of transfers?

Yogi needs to do better than those numbers.
He shot under 35% for the tourney.
That just won’t cut it for IU this year.
He needs to be 45 on 2s and nearly 40 on 3s.
15 pts a game is nothing if he’s taking 20 plus shots to do it.
