ICYMI: Ted Bolser named John Mackey Tight End of the Week

Missed this earlier. Indiana tight end Ted Bolser, who caught five passes for 56 yards and two touchdowns on Saturday, was named the national tight end of the week by the John Mackey Award Selection Committe. The release from IU.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana fifth-year senior tight end Ted Bolser was named John Mackey Tight End of the Week. Bolser hauled in a pair of touchdowns for the second time in as many games in 2013, to go along with five receptions and 56 yards against Navy.

One of 37 tight ends on the Mackey Preseason Watch List, Bolser shares the top spot nationally with four touchdown catches. The Cincinnati native’s scores are first, 11 catches are tied for second and 134 yards are third among tight ends in the country.

Bolser, who earned a spot on the Mackey Preseason Watch List for the third straight season, owns the program record for tight ends with 13 touchdowns and ranks second with 93 receptions and 1,151 yards.

The 2013 John Mackey recipient will be presented live on December 12, 2013 at The Home Depot College Football Awards Red Carpet Show: 6:00 p.m. ET on ESPNU. Other key dates include the announcement of the 2013 Mackey Midseason Watch List on October 14, 2013, the 2013 Mackey Semi-finalists on November 18, 2013 and the 2013 Mackey Finalists on November 25, 2013. This weekly honor was started in 2004 to draw attention to individual play by Tight Ends during the active season.
