Indiana associate head coach Dan Simonds, who was hired in July after serving a term as head coach at Miami (Ohio), is leaving the program to take over the baseball division of the IMG Academy. The release from Indiana follows.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Dan Simonds has been hired to run the IMG Academy Baseball Division down in Bradenton, Fla. He had served as IU Baseball’s associate head coach since July.

“This is one of those rare and unique opportunities that comes around only so often,” said head coach Tracy Smith. “Some would say that the timing is not great. However, we don’t look at it like that at all. When you have quality people in your program that are good at what they do, you have to realize they are going to be highly sought after for their abilities. We saw it with Ty Neal last season, and we are seeing it again with Dan. I am proud of both of them for their accomplishments. While I hate losing a great coach and close friend, I could not be happier for him and his family.”
