Greetings from Poland: Jordan Hulls

I’m back again from Poland! I hope everyone enjoyed the Holidays and the celebration of the New Year, I’m sure we all have things that we are thankful for and also have things we are excited about for the new year.

The past couple weeks here in Poland have been very festive. They take the Christmas season and New Year’s to another level over here. People have been celebrating for two weeks straight it seems like, which is pretty cool other than when I needed to get groceries and realized the stores were closed.

For our New Year’s we didn’t do too much. We didn’t get to watch a ball drop or anything but for New Year’s, people buy all kinds of fireworks and they use them to celebrate the special occasion. It is the only time throughout the whole year where setting off fireworks is legal, so I’ve heard, which meant that people were taking advantage of that and setting off fireworks all day long! As the clock struck twelve, we just watched some fireworks from the balcony of my apartment. Felt like the Fourth of July with how many they were setting off. It was pretty neat to see that because it was different than what we were used to for New Year’s.

I’m definitely looking forward to 2014, as I will be busy with planning a wedding, basketball workouts, and working on figuring out where I will be at next. Not quite sure when I get back to the U.S., but when I do I will be busy for sure, which is a good thing. My goals are to just keep on developing my game and see what opportunities I have for basketball next season. I’d love to stay in the States but will just have to wait and see what my options are. It’s definitely an exciting time in my life but also can be nerve wrecking just not knowing what’s going to happen next, but I have full faith that everything will work out.

Overall, it has been an awesome year, from winning the Big Ten Championship, to getting engaged, and then to live out a dream and play professional basketball. I have many things to be thankful for and many more thing to look forward to as 2014 begins. I’ll end with some pictures to recap 2013 just for fun and to give you an inside look at me and what has happened this year.
