Ferrell, Robinson arrested by excise police

Indiana’s Yogi Ferrell and Stanford Robinson were both arrested by excise police early Friday morning. The release from the excise police follows.

Excise Officers Arrest Two Indiana University Basketball Players

Bloomington, Ind. (April 25th) –

Indiana State Excise Police officers arrested two members of the Indiana University Men’s Basketball team early this morning.  Kevin D. Farrell, 20, of Indianapolis, and Stanford B. Robinson, 18, of Landover, Maryland, were each preliminarily charged with Minor Consumption of an Alcoholic Beverage and Possession of a False Identification.

At approximately 1:00 am, Farrell and Robinson allegedly attempted to enter Kilroy’s Sports Bar located at 319 North Walnut using false identifications.  Indiana State Excise Police officers working inside the premise recognized the identifications to be false at that time.

Farrell and Robinson were each issued summonses and released.  The two will be required to appear in Monroe County Court on Sunday, April 27th at 8:30 am.

As the enforcement division of the Indiana Alcohol and Tobacco Commission, the primary mission of the Indiana State Excise Police is to promote public safety by enforcing Indiana’s Alcoholic Beverage Code. While excise officers have the authority to enforce any state law, they focus primarily on alcohol, tobacco and related laws.

They should have got caught smoking weed instead. Then they could align the hearts with the riches of the NBA.

As a separate incident, I don’t really care all that much about this. But combine this with the fact that we sucked so bad this year, had someone get a DUI 2 days before we play Purdue, this sucks.

Yep, you’re right guys…nobody is going to recognize that it’s not really you on the ID…as a basketball player for IU…at a bar IN Bloomington.

That’s almost as unlikely to be successful as Obama trying to sneak out of the White House in plain clothes. I can just see one of the security guards saying “Wait a second…aren’t you the President?”

Absolutely right iuhoosier1992, they will join the hundreds of Little 500 revelers who are bound to get busted tonight and tomorrow night. Could’ve been worse, hopefully they’ll learn from the situation. Go Hoosiers.

I guess Yogi officially turns 21 in a couple of weeks, but Little 5 parties wait for no one.

What do you think will happen? Suspension of a few games once the season starts for violation of team rules? Some sort of curfew? I am sure these are good kids. There will be consequences. I hope they learn a valuable lesson from this incident.

HAHAHAHAHA 1992 good line!! but in all seriousness I have a question for anyone. how serious is the use of a false ID ..underage drinking no biggie but Im worried about the consequences of using a false ID

    TJ,
This was the best and worst time for these guys to pull this move. It’s the worst because there is a lot of excise police out. Even if there were bouncers who might be sympathetic to their cause on most nights of the year, Little 500 is a time when the excise police are everywhere and there’s no room to let anything slide. It’s the best because Bloomington uses its excise violators on Little 500 week to clean up the town after all of the damage has been done. They’ll report on Sunday morning, be handed a trash bag or something of the like and sent out to clean stuff. Will pay a fine, too, but that will be the extent of it. It’s not the most fun way to spend a Sunday, but there’s less of the long-term effects.

Yeah TJ, I’m concerned about their using a false ID as well. Understand that one of them had a first name that began with “T” and a last name that began with ‘J’; what read oddly to the police is that they didn’t believe their Texas addresses in Bloomington on a school night. (Have you checked your wallet?)

Not to worry. I think I told the story once before, but shortly after the 1967 Rose Bowl, one of the players got busted because he got caught trying to use a stolen (there had been a rsh of locker break ins in the Indiana football locker room) Indiana Driver’s License with the name ‘John Pont’ with an address in the Heritage Woods subdivision in Bloomington to charge $1000 dollars worth of clothing at Rhodes (I think that was the name of the store). I think he dropped out of school shortly after that.

Wow… That has to be one of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard. I’m assuming this is Kilroy’s in Bloomington… Where they go to school and are extremely famous local athletes who play a sport without helmets to cover their faces.

It appears this team may soon be the pride of the NCAA(National Collegians Alcoholics Anonymous).

Doc Libby on ‘Libby’s Crossover’ reiterated that her son is no longer going to pass up shots.

Crean: “I told the kids we need to figure out how to regularly down Wiscy. They thought I meant Jack Daniel’s. It’s a process. We’re working through it.”

Derek Elston was seen in town for ‘Little Five’ weekend. He is being blamed for the trip that caused Yogi and Stan to fall from sidewalk into the bar. Kellenberger has exclusive footage….again.

Hanner Perea was not charged for finally possessing an accurate fake ID depicting him as Carlos Boozer.
